Zorrilla Theatre
Zorrilla Theatre opening in 1884 was an event attended by the poet José Zorrilla himself. The building, which occupies the place on which the Convent of San Francisco was, is the work of the architect Joaquín Ruiz Sierra.
Its main room can accommodate up to 534 people and maintains the original design. The orchestra pit can hold up to twenty musicians.
The theatre is also equipped with an experimental and rehearsal room in the basement – capacity for up to a hundred people-, a lounge-cafeteria on the first floor, a conference room with a space for temporary exhibitions on the second floor, offices on the third floor, archive and video library on the top floor.
The rehabilitation of the Theatre Zorrilla, sponsored by the Valladolid Provincial Council and carried out by Roberto Valle González, took place in September 2009 and has allowed the recovery of a space for architectural and cultural heritage..
