Festivities
Valladolid comes alive every year with its festivities in honor of the Virgin of San Lorenzo, a massive celebration that floods the city with music, folklore, children's activities, theater, open-air dances, the national fireworks competition, the grand commercial exhibition known as the International Trade Fair, the International Ceramic and Pottery Fair, and two major gastronomic events: the Day Fair, a gathering centered around tapas and the "lorencito" in the city center and neighborhoods, and the Gastronomy Fair, showcasing the most typical dishes from all over Spain.
The highly anticipated concerts in Plaza Mayor will turn Valladolid into the world capital of electronic music with the presence of DJs who will be on the Tomorrowland Festival lineup: Yves V from Antwerp, the Australian duo Nervo, and Spanish artist Brian Cross will take the stage in Valladolid on Wednesday, September 6.
Furthermore, during the patron saint festivities, performances will include Tanxungueiras and Cepeda (Friday, September 1), Ana Torroja (Saturday, September 2), Nena Daconte and La La Love You (Sunday, September 3), Luz Casal (Monday, September 4), Rels B (Tuesday, September 5), Lola Índigo (Thursday, September 7), Niña Pastori and Antonio Carmona (Friday, September 8), and Helena Bianco and the Municipal Music School band (as the grand finale on Sunday, September 10). On Saturday, September 9, nostalgia and rhythm will join forces in a lively festival dedicated to British pop with Tony Hardley (former lead vocalist of the London band Spandau Ballet), The Christians, and The Blow Monkeys.
