Museum monastery of Saint Elizabeth

Founded by Juana de Hermosilla in 1472. The monastery and the church were built at the beginning of the 16th century by Bartolomé de Solórzano. It became a closed monastery in the 17th century and currently is the home of a community of Poor Clare nuns. The visit to the museum includes the convent temple. It has a single nave with a starred cross vault. The major altarpiece contains sculptures by Gregorio Fernández: "Santa Isabel de Hungría" and "El pobre". There is also a beautiful reredos of Juan de Juni dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi. The visit also includes the cloister with gothic openwork gables.
