This is the veritable lung and most important natural resource of the city. Covering almost 1,000 hectares of land it has paths which welcome walkers, cyclists and horse riders alike. 3.5 kilometres to the south of the city, the forest has picnic areas with facilities for barbecues, sports facilities and children’s playgrounds and can be reached by means of a cycle lane. Drivers can take the south ring road to get there and there are also links by public transport which takes about 15 minutes. The Adventure Park of the Woodland Workshops is a must for both youngsters and grown-ups. The circuits offer fun for 5 to 69 year olds. There are also circuits for toddlers, the handicapped and for all the family. The Woodland Workshop Foundation, in collaboration with the City Council, employs 14 carers and guarantees both active and passive safety systems according to the difficulty of the circuit. The timetable is ample and groups are welcome.
