Oriental museum
The centre is located in the Royal College of the Philippine Augustine Friars, dating from the 18th century. It houses the most important collection of the Far East in Spain. Chinese art: glazes, porcelain items, bronzes, silk items, coins, furniture, calligraphy and paintings. Filipino art: ethnological art of Luzon and Mindanao. Colonial art: paintings, sculptures, prints, embroidered silk, Filipino-hispanic ivories from the 17th and 18th centuries. Japanese art: work from the Edo and Meiji periods, arms used by the ancient samurai (suits of armour, katanas), 17th century paintings and calligraphy, Buddhist and Shinto sculptures in lacquered and gilded wood, masks, kimonos, lacquers, paintings and prints…
